Traffic Court Pages That Actually Rank

People who get a ticket search the courthouse, not the practice area. They know where they have to appear and roughly nothing else, so the search is the place plus a question. A traffic firm that has a real page for each court it appears in picks up those searches. A firm with one statewide page doesn’t.

What makes a traffic court page rank?

Updated

Most traffic firms have a services page, a city page or two, and a contact form. That covers the searches nobody is running. The searches people actually run name a courthouse.

How many court pages do I need?
One per court you actually appear in. No more. If you have never been there you cannot write it
What has to be on it?
Prepayment, continuances, whether counsel can appear alone, local first-offense practice. Things only someone who practices there knows
What gets a set of them dropped?
Templating. Identical pages with the courthouse name swapped. Google scaled content abuse guidance
How should they connect?
The county page links to every court, and each court links back plus to its neighbors. Otherwise nobody finds the court pages
Does it work at scale?
1,689 ranking keywords on our anchor traffic practice. 40,000+ clients through that pipeline

The search is the place plus a question

Someone gets a summons. It names a courthouse and a date. They have no idea what any of it means, and the thing they type carries the only concrete noun they have: the court.

“Do I have to appear in person.” “Can I just pay it.” “What happens if I miss the date.” Attach any of those to a courthouse name and you have the query. It is specific, it is local, and almost nobody has written the page that answers it.

What belongs on the page

The test is simple: could a lawyer who has never appeared there write this? If yes, it’s not a court page, it’s a template. What only a practitioner knows:

  • Whether the court allows prepayment, and what prepaying actually concedes.
  • Whether counsel can appear without the client, and for which charges.
  • How continuances are handled, and how far out the docket runs.
  • What the local prosecutor typically does with a first offense on a common charge.
  • Where to park, which entrance, what time to arrive. Trivial, and genuinely appreciated.
  • Which charges in that jurisdiction are criminal rather than infractions.

Six real facts beats six hundred words of filler, and they’re the six an answer engine can lift.

The mistake that takes down the whole set

Templating court pages doesn’t just underperform, it drags the domain. Google’s scaled content abuse guidance targets exactly this shape: many pages generated from one pattern with a name substituted. The result is usually “Crawled, currently not indexed” across the set, with no error reported anywhere. The pages simply never rank, and the site’s overall quality signal takes the hit.

Fifteen court pages you can defend will out-earn a hundred you can’t, and they carry no risk. If you want the hundred, the honest route is to write them over two years as you actually appear in those courts.

How they connect

A court page nothing links to is a court page nobody finds. What works is a county page that links out to every court in it, with each court linking back, and across to the one or two nearest courts a client might mix it up with.

Word each link differently. A breadcrumb saying the county name, a sentence linking “traffic court in Henrico County”, and a nearby-courts list naming each one are three fair routes to the same page. Using identical wording all three times wastes two of them.

What it produces

Our longest-running traffic engagement is built this way. David A.C. Long, Attorney at Law P.C. in Richmond, VA holds 1,689 ranking keywords and has taken 40,000+ clients through the organic pipeline since 2013. The court and jurisdiction layer is most of that, because it is most of how people search.

Common questions

Because the court is the thing with rules attached. A city page can only really say you serve that city. A court page can say whether that court allows prepayment, how it handles continuances, whether an attorney can appear without the client, and what the local prosecutor typically does with a first offense. That's information the searcher genuinely wants and the page next to yours doesn't have.

One for each court you actually appear in, and not one more. If you've never handled a matter in that courthouse you can't write anything true about it, and what you'd publish instead is a template with a name swapped. That's the pattern Google's scaled content abuse guidance targets, and the penalty lands on the domain rather than the page.

Then say so and consolidate. Two courts with identical procedure don't need two pages, they need one page that covers both and says why they're treated together. A merged page with real content beats two thin ones, and it's easier to keep current.

The county page links out to each court, and each court links back, plus across to the one or two nearest courts a client might confuse it with. The county page covers the broad search for the area, each court page covers the specific one, and the links between them pass strength in both directions.

They work better. A question like "can my lawyer appear for me in Henrico General District Court" is exactly the kind of specific, local, checkable thing an answer engine wants to cite and mostly can't find. A page that answers it plainly, names the court, and cites the court's own site is a strong citation candidate. Generic city pages are not.
